The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has announced the appointment of Comrade Mustapha Imran Taiwo, popularly known as Dplenty and politically baptized as “AMULUDUN OF NANS,” as the Director of Media, NANS Southwest (Zone D).
The appointment, which took effect in February 2025, is part of the strategic restructuring by the zone to strengthen its media operations, public engagement, and digital presence across the Southwest geopolitical zone.
Comrade Mustapha Imran Taiwo is a seasoned student leader, media strategist, and youth advocate with a proven track record in student unionism and public communication. He is a former Senate President of the National Association of Kajola Students (NAKS), Former NUESA Social Director, Former NANS EKITI JCC Social Director and a two-term Student Senator representing the Faculty of Engineering at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE). With strong professional expertise in graphic design, photography, videography, and digital media management.
Widely known within student political circles for his consistency, creativity, and loyalty to the struggle, Comrade Imran has played key roles in mobilization, publicity, and advocacy-driven campaigns across campuses in the Southwest.
His appointment as Director of Media is widely seen as a well-deserved recognition of his competence and long-standing contribution to the NANS movement.
Speaking on the appointment, the leadership of NANS Southwest expressed confidence in his capacity to project the ideals, activities, and policy directions of the association effectively, while strengthening engagement with students, stakeholders, and the general public.
In his acceptance of the role, Comrade Mustapha Imran Taiwo reaffirmed his commitment to responsible media engagement, strategic storytelling, and promoting a positive image of Nigerian students. He pledged to deploy innovation, professionalism, and inclusiveness in advancing the media vision of NANS Southwest.
