COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE LEADERSHIP OF NANS SOUTHWEST AND THE LEADERSHIP OF THE JOINT CAMPUS COUNCIL (JCC) IN EKITI STATE MEETING

Date: 7th April, 2025

Following a strategic meeting convened by the Leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest and the Leadership of the Joint Campus Council (JCC) in Ekiti State, we wish to address vital matters regarding the state of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) and the larger student body.

In a united voice, we, the Leadership of NANS Southwest, extend a vote of confidence in the administration of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), including both its governing council and management team. We acknowledge the hard work, dedication, and resilience demonstrated by the university in maintaining academic excellence and progress. We fully recognize their commitment to upholding a conducive learning environment for the students of FUOYE.

We, as NANS Southwest, strongly stand in solidarity with the university and its leadership against any external or internal forces, groups, or individuals who seek to disrupt the smooth running of the institution. We are united in ensuring that no attempt to destabilize FUOYE or undermine its operations will succeed.

The university has been running a highly credible and efficient academic calendar that has ensured a seamless and timely progression of academic activities. We will not tolerate the spread of misinformation, negative propaganda, or any disruptive actions that would hinder the smooth functioning of the institution. We recognize the value of preserving this stability and will work to safeguard it at all costs.

We also recognize the profound impact that the reputation of FUOYE holds for its students and graduates. Any attempt to damage the university's image ultimately tarnishes the credibility of its graduates and their certificates. As representatives of the student body, we believe that the integrity of the university is directly tied to the academic future of its students. We, therefore, stand firmly in defense of FUOYE’s reputation and the valuable academic qualifications it bestows upon its students.

In light of this, we pledge to actively oppose any individual, group, or entity that seeks to destabilize the university’s operations or tarnish its hard-earned reputation. NANS Southwest will not stand by idly while forces of disruption attempt to derail the academic progress and social harmony of FUOYE.

This communiqué serves as a clear statement of our collective resolve to protect our campuses, our academic programs, and, most importantly, the futures of our students. We urge all students to remain vigilant and united in ensuring that FUOYE continues to thrive and serve as a beacon of academic excellence.

Together, we will ensure that no threat to the integrity of FUOYE or its students goes unchallenged.
