NANS DEMAND FOR IMMEDIATE REVERSAL OF THE UNJUST SUSPENSION OF SUG LEADERS

We, the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest Zone, strongly condemn the indefinite suspension of the leaders of the Student Union Government (SUG) of Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun, following their peaceful protests on March 19th and 20th, 2025. This suspension is an unjust attack on students’ fundamental right to peacefully express their concerns and violates the democratic values of our institutions.

The SUG raised critical issues affecting student welfare, including unjust fee increments, the unfulfilled promise of the SUG building reconstruction, unresolved medical test and insurance concerns, lack of recognition for student leadership, and issues with ID cards and results for NCE students. These are matters of justice, and no student should be punished for standing up for their rights.

OUR DEMANDS
We demand the immediate action on the following issues:

1. Immediate Reinstatement of All Suspended Students
2. Reversal of School Fee Increments and Charges
3. Reconstruction of the SUG Building
4. Improvement of Medical Tests and Insurance
5. Official Recognition of the Student Union Leadership
6. Resolution of NCE II and III ID Cards and Results

Failure to address these demands will lead to mass mobilization of all Nigerian students in the Southwest. On Monday, March 24, 2025, we will stage a peaceful protest at the College, demanding justice until our voices are heard and these issues are resolved.

We stand firm in solidarity with the suspended students and affirm that Nigerian students will not be silenced by intimidation. The struggle continues—no retreat, no surrender!

We trust the management will act in the interest of justice, peace, and the well-being of the students.

Good day, ever sagacious comrades, I salute your courage . I will also advice the NANS south - west to consult before any action bcus if those you are defending are not also seeing it the way you are seeing it. You will look embarrassed and I have once done it when I was in school but others are running to protect their images and position. Thank you.
