PRESS RELEASE
The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone, under the leadership of Comr. Owolewa Taiwo, extends its deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the children who tragically lost their lives in the stampede that occurred during the Christmas Carol event organized by Queen Naomi and Alh. (Dr.) Oriyomi Hamzat in Ibadan. This heart-wrenching incident has left us all in shock, and our hearts go out to the grieving families. We pray that God grants them the strength and comfort they need during this incredibly difficult time.
We also stand in solidarity with Queen Naomi and Alh. (Dr.) Oriyomi Hamzat as they navigate through this trying period. We acknowledge the heavy burden of such an event, and we assure them that they are not alone. We pass a vote of confidence in their leadership and pray that God grants them the fortitude and wisdom to overcome this challenge.
As an association committed to the welfare and justice of Nigerian students, NANS Southwest remains resolute in our mission to advocate for the safety, well-being, and rights of all students across the country. We call for a thorough investigation into the incident to ensure accountability, justice, and the implementation of measures that will prevent such a tragedy from ever occurring again.
We trust that this unfortunate event will lead to necessary changes that prioritize the lives and welfare of all Nigerians, especially our future leaders—our students. NANS Southwest, under the leadership of Comr. Owolewa Taiwo, remains committed to prioritizing justice, safety, and the welfare of Nigerian students.
May God continue to guide and protect us all, and may He grant eternal rest to those who have passed.
