The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Southwest Zone is to embark on an awareness campaign to sensitise the public on how to curb the spread of Cholera.
According to the Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Alao John, on Sunday, the campaign would involve the distribution of educational materials and flyers, organising awareness campaigns and rallies.
Also, it would involve engaging local leaders and healthcare professionals on actions to take and supporting vaccination efforts and water sanitation projects.
Students from across the zone are expected to converge on Agodi Gate area of Ibadan from where they will march round the city and take the message to other town and communities in the region.
“Today, it’s imperative for me to address a pressing issue that affects us all: cholera. This waterborne disease has claimed many lives in our country, and it’s time for us to take action.
“As students, we have a unique opportunity to make a difference by joining hands together, we can sensitize the general public on the importance of hygiene, clean water, and sanitation.
“We must educate our communities on the risks of cholera and how it can be prevented. We must promote hand washing with soap, proper disposal of waste, and the use of clean water sources.
“By working together, we can: Let use our collective voice to demand improved access to clean water and sanitation facilities in our various institutions and communities.
Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can stop cholera. Let us join hands, let us raise our voices, and let us fight against cholera. For a healthier Nigeria, for a brighter future, we can make it happen,” he said.
